La laboral se construyó para tapar los agujeros de un mapa educativo incompleto en tiempos de la Dictadura, y con ese principio fundacional empezó a acoger a los jóvenes de decenas de municipios de varias comarcas valencianas. Está ubicado a 4 kilómetros del pueblo y a 22 de la capital.
Con el paso de los años, la construcción de colegios e institutos por las comarcas valencianas ha ido vaciando las aulas del mastodonte educativo de Cheste, que actualmente alberga el Instituto Valenciano de Seguridad Pública y Emergencias(IVASPE), el Centro de Formación, Innovación y Recursos Educativos (CEFIRE), un instituto, un centro de Formación Profesional y dos bloques de residencias en uso para alumnos internos, aunque no ha dejado de funcionar en todos estos años.
También cuenta con uno de los mayores auditorios de Europa con capacidad para 2.500 personas, aunque actualmente se encuentra en obras de reparación.

The university was built to cover the holes of an incomplete educational map at the time of the Dictatorship, and with that founding principle began to welcome young people from dozens of municipalities of several Valencian regions. It is located 4 kilometers far from the town and 22 from the capital.
